Isis is a Siamese, Oriental and Peterbald cattery in Johannesburg, South Africa, first established in 1988. We are registered with the Cat Federation of Southern Africa, the Southern Africa Cat Council and the Cat Association of Southern Africa. We are passionate about our breeds and specialise in Marble Tabbies. We show our cats regularly in Gauteng and occasionally in KwaZulu Natal and other parts of the country.
Isis was originally founded by Mariette Kruger, a CFSA judge and WCF guest judge, qualified in Siamese, Oriental, Peterbald and Persian Exotics; and her late partner, Patti Paterson. The first medium hair Orientals (known in some countries as Javanese) were bred by Isis in the early 90’s out of an Oriental female to our imported Balinese stud.
Please note that due to my ill health, my cats are currently residing with Mariette Burger of LaMASKA cattery. Should you be interested in a kitten or retired adult, please contact her on 081 300 5229 for more information.
Our beautiful cats are mix of local and imported lines. Thank you to the breeders who have entrusted us with your breeding over the years.
Isis kittens are registered with the Cat Federation of Southern Africa, are raised in our home and leave us at 16 weeks of age sterilised, microchipped, inoculated and socialised.
Each kitten is given individual attention to ensure that they adjust easily with their new families. Orientals and Siamese kittens may take longer than other breeds adjust to their new environment and our Kitten Guide will give you valuable information to make the right choices for and care for your new baby.

Affectionate, demanding, vocal and high energy, the Siamese has a rich, long history from their apple head ancestors to the modern, more angular and elegant varieties we see today. The Siamese cat is a tubular, lean cat with a long, whippy tail and wedge shaped head, set off by a pair of beautifully flared, large ears. They have oriental-shaped deep blue eyes, a straight profile, a strong chin and long neck and come in a large variety of colours distinguished by the himalayan pointed pattern. They are born “white” and due to temperature gradually develop their colour on their extremities over the first few months of their lives.
The Oriental Shorthair was originally developed in the 1950s, in the UK, to develop a cat breed like the Siamese that has a full coat of colour. Since then, the breed has developed enormously and over 300 colour and pattern combinations are widely accepted today. Bred with the Siamese, their temperaments are indistinguishable and they are only separated by the fact that their colour and pattern is not confined to their extremities like their Siamese siblings. Orientals can carry the Siamese pointed gene and therefore are a valuable addition to any breeding programme to create diversity.
